Instructions for Submitting Your Case in Writing

Your letter must contain the following:

  • Your Name
  • Ticket Number
  • Phone Number
  • Current Address - All future correspondence will be sent to this address.
    • (Note - If your address changes after you submit your letter, it is your responsibility to contact the court and change it. Failure to receive the prosecutor’s response due to a failure to change your address with the court is not a defense and the time to accept the plea will not be extended.)
  • Specific Request for the Prosecutor – What are you asking them to do?


Submit your letter to the court by one of the following methods:

  • Personal Service -Deliver your letter to the Criminal/Traffic counter during normal business hours or place it in the drop box located outside of the entry to the court after hours.

  • US Postal Service – Mail your letter to the address provided below.

Upon receipt of the letter your ticket will be submitted to the prosecutor. This will place the ticket in a holding status which stops any further action from occurring. Do not pay your ticket until you receive the prosecutor’s decision. You will be notified of the prosecutor’s decision in writing by the court. You will have 30 days from the date on the letter to accept and sign the agreement and return to the court with payment in full. The court does not offer payment plans for plea agreements. If you do not hear from the court in three to four weeks of your letter, you must call 734-941-4462 and ask if there is any progress on your letter.
