Hearing Request

Traffic Civil Infraction Pre-Hearing Conference Request

Pre-Hearing Conference requests are available for civil infractions only. You may request a Pre-Hearing Conference with a representative from the issuing Police Department for the purpose of attempting to reach a plea agreement.  The officer who issued your ticket will not be subpoenaed to appear. At the conference, you and a Police Department representative will have the opportunity to discuss plea options.  If you are unable to reach a plea agreement for any reason, you will still have the opportunity to deny responsibility for the charge and proceed to either an informal or formal hearing.
*Please note that if you decide to request such a hearing, it will be on a subsequent date, not on the same day as your Pre-Hearing Conference.

Request for pre-hearings can be made in person at the court no sooner than five (5) business days after the ticket was issued.  A Notice to Appear for your scheduled date will be handed to you.
A hearing may also be scheduled by leaving a voicemail at the scheduling desk 734-941-4462 ext. 236.  You will need to leave your name. phone number, ticket number, and any change of address information when making that request. You will not receive a confirmation call  from the court. Notice of your Pre-Hearing Conference date will be sent by US mail. If you do not receive a notice from the court after two weeks, contact the court.

Pre-hearings can be rescheduled one time by you and one time by the Police Department prior to the scheduled date. Pre-hearings cannot be re-scheduled the day of the hearing. Failure to appear for your hearing will result in a default finding you responsible of the violation(s) as issued and a penalty fee of $50.00 per violation.
